ARCh (Assisted Reading for Children in Oxfordshire)

Improving data collection and maximising insights from a charity’s annual impact evaluation.

The challenge

ARCh wanted to develop the way it evaluated its annual performance, so it could better measure and understand the impact of the charity’s work on the pupils it supports. They also wanted to make it easier to collect, analyse and present the information.

Our approach

We refreshed the survey design and moved data capture from a manual system of spreadsheets to an online platform with user-friendly reporting tools. We interrogated the data to provide a deeper understanding of where and how ARCh’s work was making a difference.

The result

ARCh can now communicate the impact of its work more clearly and professionally. They are able to share the results of the annual survey with funders, schools, volunteers and trustees in a clear, attractive format, while moving to an online platform has saved the charity a considerable amount of time and money.

What the client said

Elaine Adams, Development Manager at ARCh said:

We are so grateful for your professional support and our volunteers really appreciated the input at our last meeting where over 100 attended and felt proud and motivated by the enthusiastic delivery of your findings. Your idea of producing an online facility to enter our data proved to be a more time effective way to collate the results, something which we will be building on in future surveys. You quickly gained an insight into the huge benefits of the unique service our volunteers provide and communicated this in a detailed but easy to understand way. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the coming year.
