After a 30-year career in the private sector working in areas of business development and operations, a couple of life-changing experiences led Grant to reflect on how he could put his skills and expertise to better use. He found inspiration working in the voluntary sector, using his business experience to find and maximise opportunities for collaboration.
He set up his business Collaborent Ltd to help develop innovative, mutually beneficial collaborations between businesses, charities, public sector bodies, educational establishments and communities. Grant has a passion for business as a force for good, as well as the rapidly growing social enterprise sector. He works with key stakeholders such as the Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP), the universities and local authorities to help develop strategies and programmes to ensure the strong local economy is more inclusive and one that works for everyone.
Grant also helps to run ROBIN, the Responsible Oxfordshire Business Involvement Network, is an Ambassador for Monument Community Trust and is on the Steering Groups of Reciprocate, a local responsible business group and OSEP, a partnership between the universities supporting Social Enterprise. He has two grown-up children and a granddaughter and enjoys spending time with his wife in Cornwall, a place they consider their spiritual home.
